Manipur: Landslides Cause Fatalities Amid Northeast Floods

In Manipur, heavy rainfall triggered deadly landslides in Churachandpur and Senapati. These landslides buried homes, killing at least eight residents, including children.

Imphal city experienced urban flooding, blocking major roads and cutting off rural communities. Authorities urged people in vulnerable zones to move to safer ground.

Mizoram and Meghalaya: Northeast India Floods and Landslides Cause Chaos

Mizoram reported six deaths, mostly due to collapsing structures during flash floods. Aizawl and nearby towns suffered the most damage.

In Meghalaya, two people died in West Garo Hills as rivers overflowed and landslides damaged homes. Schools closed, and emergency workers rushed to affected areas.

Relief Efforts Ramp Up After Deadly Northeast Floods

The Indian Army, NDRF, and local disaster response teams launched coordinated rescue operations. Helicopters dropped essential supplies into remote areas. Medical teams are treating the injured, while volunteers assist with food distribution.

Authorities are using boats and rescue vehicles to reach flood-affected families. District officials are working around the clock to ensure safety and manage relief efforts.

Weather Alerts Issued Amid Ongoing Northeast India Floods and Landslides

The Indian Meteorological Department issued a red alert, warning of continued heavy rainfall for the next 48 hours. Residents in high-risk areas have been advised to stay indoors and avoid flood-prone zones.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered condolences and assured full support from the central government. State chief ministers are monitoring the crisis and coordinating relief measures.
